Our THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMS

At CelebrateDanceStudio, we have a special place in our hearts for bringing
Therapeutic Creative Dance Arts to those in need of special care.

Here are some places that have benefited from our programs:
  • Long and Short Term Care Hospitals
  • Dementia Units
  • Nursing Homes / Senior Care Facilities
  • Independant Living Senior Centers
  • Special Needs Schools for preschoolers
  • Neuro Rehab Residents
  • Special Need Adult Dance Classes of all kinds
  • Staff that get involved at all of the above!
  • Senior Centers

BEFORE WE COME...

Dear Helpers, Support Staff, and Volunteers.
"Our time will go soooo fast!  Please jump on board with me and watch the magic unfold.
Don't worry, I have a very non threatening approach!   Dance is a risk taking experience for many, so I will be gently easing people in, never putting people "on the spot" including you, my helpers in this process.
I appreciate your cooperation. The faster we can become a "team" the better!
Name tags for everyone help a lot.  (CD travels' with Nametags)
  •  What will you do?   Sessions vary, sometimes I need assistance with handing out props quickly,  sometimes it really helps the flow if an additional helper assists someone in a wheel chair to re-position for the next song.

TIP#1

All are invited to participate (including you!).  Please support me as I faciitate participating artists in this creative process.  You can help by focusing them on the directions and promps I ( or the lead facilitator ) is giving.  Help them / invite them to focus on the songs, the moves and the invitations that are being brought into the group.

TIP#2

Celebrate Everything!  No matter how small.  All Participants are Artists in Action - they are letting the creative process happen inside of them.  Be sensitive to this process and bring a positive "vibe" as artists are expressing and taking risks!  Lets celebrate & encourage!

TIP#3

Keep Outside Distractions to a Minimum - If a resident artist can wait to take a med , or have a conversation,
PLEASE Wait til we are done.  We NEED helpers in the room to save all excess conversations with other helpers and residents til after we are done...

TIP#4

Please allow a few minutes at the end of sessions (during cleanup transition) for participants to "digest" and "absorb" the sessions that they just experienced!  It's like sharing a huge group "SMILE" together.

I need your help with keeping the focus on what we all just experienced.

It's a great time to re cap the highlights of the session that we just shared together.

There is much love, preparation and planning put into each CD session brought to your center.
As we are winding up a session, I am always grateful as I am packing up and saying our good-byes with antipication of our next session.
...."til we sing and dance again!"
